My days of late have been a soupy mix; an array of difficult flashbacks to ecstatic spiritual experiences.
It’s both and.
Life is both and.
I know I need to release the former to experience more of the latter. I thought I had, I thought I did.
Funny how the absloute wretchedness of life, like a fire consuming all in its path, can still give way to so much beauty. Scorched and out of oxygen, I find that, on those rare occassions, when grace visits from the heavens, I’m granted the gift of witnessing perfection flicker within the moments of destruction. Somehow I find my next breath while watching it burn.
Love is humble witness to my father's turmoil. Unable to do but be present and believe in faith written in ancient texts. Chanting sacred mantras that transmute this moment into the holy, burning all fear in the fire of hope. Divine tunes consecrate our souls, bringing peace in the midst of utter chaos, absolving all questions with the only answer- this too is love. From Custom Blend
These unbearably difficult phases once came and went, but now they seem to have become a way of life. This poem whispers a reminder - I must call upon every tool I’ve collected along this journey wrought with challenges.
Keep breathing, Lavina. Dance, walk, read, meditate your way back to trusting. Even in the chaos of change, love is present.
It has always been love. It will always be love.
Gratitude for the magical alignment of synchronicities, revelations, and oneness to keep me from closing my heart.
May I continue to let go of control.
Calling on inspiration.
The Serenity Prayer
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Amen"
Sikh scripture
The Guru Granth Sahib emphasizes surrendering one's ego, letting go of control, and placing complete trust in Waheguru (God). It teaches that true peace comes when we release our illusion of control and submit to the divine will (Hukam). Attachment to outcomes, worries, and self-will only lead to suffering, while surrender brings inner freedom and grace.
"Chinta taa ki keeje, jo anhoni hoye.
Eh maarag sansaar ko, nanak thir nahi koye."
(Why worry about that which is beyond your control?
This world is a mere path—nothing here is permanent.) – Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 1429
Zen proverb
“Let go, or be dragged.”
Taoist principle of Wu Wei, or effortless action. Instead of forcing life to conform to our will, we align ourselves with the natural flow of existence.
“Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
From Sufism
“Try not to resist the waves of life. Become the ocean.” – Hafiz
Rida is contentment with whatever comes. It is not passive resignation but an active trust that all things, whether joyful or painful, are part of the divine unfolding.
The Bible consistently teaches that letting go of control and trusting in God leads to peace, wisdom, and spiritual freedom. It warns against relying on human understanding and emphasizes surrendering to God's will.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." – Proverbs 3:5-6
Recognizing that control is merely an illusion, while love remains the only enduring truth, is a timeless lesson woven into all wisdom traditions—a truth we all grapple with on our journey.
May our journeys be guided by love and acceptance, bringing greater peace to the world.
